For more than 30 years Mississippi 811 resided at 5258 Cedar Park Drive in Jackson. During that time, the organization underwent tremendous growth in membership, employees and technology.
For the past 8 to 10 years, the board of directors has been on the lookout for a space that would best serve the membership for the next 30 years. While securing the right spot was important, they wanted to ensure that they were able to make the right financial decision as well.
Recently, such a purchase opportunity became available. Mississippi 811 began to operate from their new office complex at 200 Country Place Parkway in Pearl on October 28.
Sam Johnson, president of Mississippi 811 said, “I’m elated that we were able to take advantage of this opportunity. While it has more space than is necessary for our call center operations, it affords us the opportunity to provide unique services to our membership. I invite our members and users of the system to stop by and let us show you the possibilities.”
The office building has 18,000 square feet and sits on 5 acres in an easily accessible industrial complex just off Interstate 20 in Pearl. Take the airport exit (exit 52) on I-20, cross back over the interstate and turn left onto Country Place Parkway. After turning on Country Place Parkway, drive about one mile and Mississippi 811 will be on your right.
Fred Johnson, operations manager said, “The move allowed us to provide a safer environment for our employees and that was an important consideration. Secondly, all our operations are found on the same floor as opposed to our previous location. That promotes greater efficiency and overall allows for better communication within our operation”
There were no interruptions of critical 811 services during the move.
Congratulations to the Mississippi 811 Board of Directors and staff for finding this location and for having prepared your organization to take advantage of it. The future looks bright for damage prevention!
